Everton have completed the signing of Belgian international Amadou Onana from Lille, marking a significant reinforcement to their midfield ranks.

The 23-year-old dynamic midfielder joins the Toffees in a deal reportedly worth around £33 million, signaling the club’s strong intent to rebuild under manager Sean Dyche.

Known for his imposing physical presence, intelligent positioning, and relentless work rate, Onana brings exactly the kind of steel and energy Everton have been missing in recent seasons.

Standing at 6’5″, the Belgian star adds not only height but also tactical versatility, capable of anchoring the midfield or pushing forward when needed.

Onana’s rise has been rapid. After impressing at Hamburg, his move to Lille in 2021 put him on the radar of top European clubs.

His performances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League showcased his maturity beyond his years, earning him a call-up to the Belgian national team.

Now, with a fresh Premier League challenge ahead, Onana says he’s ready to make his mark at Goodison Park.

“It’s a proud moment for me,” Onana said after signing. “Everton is a massive club with passionate fans and a great history. I’m here to fight for the badge and help bring success back to the club.”

The move is being hailed as a major coup for Everton, who beat off competition from several Premier League rivals.

It also signals a broader strategy from the club to invest in youth with potential and physicality, aligning with Dyche’s no-nonsense style of football.

Fans are already buzzing about Onana’s potential partnership with midfielders like Abdoulaye Doucouré and James Garner, anticipating a stronger spine in the coming campaign.

With pre-season in full swing, Onana’s arrival couldn’t be more timely as Everton look to avoid another relegation scare.
