Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz has come out to clarify his current situation after a comment he made about his former club Aston Villa was misunderstood by many. The Brazilian has denied Aston Villa return rumours, stating that he is committed to his current club Juventus.
Douglas Luis who only joined Juventus last summer from Aston Villa, recently recounted about his days at Aston Villa, speaking positively about his time at the Villa Park. Some news outlets and football fans misunderstood the 26-year-old with rumours of a possible return to the Premier League emerging since then.
Via Fabrizio Romano’s report, Douglas Luis said: “I spoke about Aston Villa as an happy place for me, I loved to be there and develop at that club but I never mentioned a return to Aston Villa.”
“Don’t misunderstand me. I love Juventus and I’m fully focused on our targets.” He added
The Brazilian midfielder was a key part of Unai Emery’s squad during his last season with Aston Villa. He helped Villa qualify for the UEFA Champions League before sealing his move to Juventus.
Since arriving in Turin last summer, Douglas Luiz has struggled to get playing time at Juventus, starting only 3 Serie A games while coming on from the bench 15 times this season. The former Aston Villa man has failed to register a goal or an assist to his name so far in the Serie A.
