A quiet Suffolk village has been rocked by a brazen overnight burglary in which a high-performance motocross bike and a set of professional-grade tools were stolen from a private property in Lawshall, near Bury St Edmunds.
The incident occurred sometime between 11:30 PM on Tuesday and 5:45 AM Wednesday morning, when the homeowner, 32-year-old Charlie Benton, awoke to discover his garden shed ransacked and his prized 2023 KTM 250 SX-F motocross bike missing.
“I’m devastated,” Benton said, speaking from his home on Golden Lane. “That bike wasn’t just a hobby — it was something I worked hard for over years. I spent evenings in that shed working on it, modifying it, tuning it just right for competition. And now it’s just… gone.”
According to Suffolk Police, the intruders appear to have scaled the property’s six-foot rear fence, cut through a padlock on the shed door, and methodically cleared out not just the motocross bike, but also a full Snap-on toolkit estimated to be worth over £4,000. Investigators believe the thieves may have been professionals or at least had a strong familiarity with high-value motorsport equipment.
“From what we can tell, this was not an opportunistic theft,” said Detective Constable
