Real Madrid have officially announced the signing of defender Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth. The highly rated defender joins the Spanish side for £50 million after spending one season with the cherries.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Bournemouth for the transfer of the 20-year-old defender with his trademark ‘here we go’ announcement.
For the past few months, Dean Huijsen has been one of the most sought after player in Europe with Premier League top clubs, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all showing interest in signing the Spaniard. Real Madrid have emerged victorious, beating other clubs to the signature of the defender.
The club statement from Real Madrid read: “Real Madrid C. F. and AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of Dean Huijsen, who will be linked to our club for the next five seasons, from 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2030.”
Fabrizio Romano reports that Huijsen underwent medicals in London on Friday before signing a 5 year contract with Real Madrid that will see him remain at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2030.
Dean Huijsen will reportedly join Real Madrid’s squad in the United States as he will be partaking in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
The 20-year-old will serve as a long term replacement for outgoing defender Nacho Fernandez and a reinforcement in Real Madrid’s defense ahead of the new Xabi Alonso project next season at the Bernabeu.
